Faster Word Processing
Those of you who are avid fans of mine (and really, who’s not?) you may be aware of this already. To those of you who’ve found me today for the very first time (hi, nice to meet you!) I’m going to let you in on a little secret. I’m a writer, as in I get paid to write. Yup, people actually pay me to write. Of course…when I was a teacher I guess I was getting paid to talk which is basically the same thing. Funny thing is, I’d get distracted then too. So my point was, I write a lot. That means I use my word processing program a lot, as well, and that my system performance needs to be at it’s best.
The revisions and additions can take up a ton of space. I’m constantly fiddling with whatever projects I’m working on, deleting..saving…deleting.. well, you get the idea. The point is I put my word processing program through the paces on a pretty regular basis. You know what else I have to do pretty regularly to keep from having to wait the length of time it would take to watch Titanic while my computer pulls up a document? I defrag my computer. Depending on what project(s) I’m working on I’ll do this anywhere from once a week to once a month. If I’m using images a lot in the documents, I tend to defrag more. If it is just text, I can get away the defragmentation process a bit less frequently.
Have you found that regular defragging keeps your word processing program moving quickly?

This article helped me decide to use both disk trending and schedule defrag tools to protect my hard drive. Maybe it would help you also? http://www.disktrending.com/articles/disk-trending-defrag-schedule/index.php
